Hyundai Shopper Assurance Aims to Simplify Car Buying Experience

Hyundai has launched a new expansion for its Hyundai Assurance program called Shopper Assurance, which the automaker says will streamline the car buying experience. The program launches in four cities, including Miami, Orlando, Dallas, and Houston, before rolling out to all Hyundai dealers nationwide by early 2018.

There are four key parts to Hyundai’s Shopper Assurance program, the first being transparent pricing, which means participating dealers post a vehicle’s fair market pricing on their website. The price listed is the MSRP minus all available incentives and any other discounts offered by the dealer. Hyundai says knowing the market value of a vehicle will minimize negotiation time for customers.

Hyundai will also offer its customers flexible test drives, which can be scheduled via a phone call or an app so the dealer can bring the car you’re interested in to your desired location. The automaker also aims to streamline the purchasing process by minimizing the time spent in dealerships, which means most of the paperwork will be done online just before going to a dealer to see a particular car. Things such as financing, getting credit approval, and valuing a vehicle that will be traded in will all be done online.

Perhaps the boldest part of Shopper Assurance is the three-day money back guarantee, which lets a customer return the car within three days for a full refund if he or she isn’t satisfied with it. However, the vehicle must have traveled less than 300 miles since the day it was leased or purchased and is subject to dealer inspection upon return.

Hyundai Motor America chief marketing officer Dean Evans states that Shopper Assurance is the next step in making car buying simpler and expects it to differentiate the automaker from its competitors. Andrew DiFeo, chairman of the Hyundai National Dealer council and dealer principal of Hyundai St. Agustine added that Shopper Assurance will help dealers create more transparency and make car buying more convenient.

Shopper Assurance will be the fourth program in the Hyundai Assurance umbrella, which includes the automaker’s 5-year/60,000-mile basic warranty and 10-year/100,000-mile powertrain warranty, the job loss protection program during the recession in the late 2000s, and the trade-in value guarantee.
