Chevrolet owners can now control their car right from their wrist. Now that the myChevrolet app has been made compatible for Apple Watch, drivers can remotely start or stop the engine, lock and unlock the doors, and activate and deactivate the horn or lights via smartwatch. The feature will also help you locate your vehicle and get walking directions to your parking spot.
Nearly 1.4 million Chevrolet owners have downloaded the myChevrolet app and use it regularly, Chevrolet says. The myChevrolet app links owners’ phones, and now smartwatches, to their cars. Drivers can use myChevrolet to remotely check vehicle diagnostics and send navigation requests to their cars.
“The use of the myChevrolet app by our owners continues to grow across the entire vehicle lineup, so expanding its availability to Apple Watch was a natural next step and allows us to offer another easy way to manage key vehicle functions remotely,” said Paul Edwards, Chevrolet U.S. vice president of Marketing, in a statement.
The myChevrolet app for Apple Watch is now available in the U.S., Canada, and Mexico. Drivers can select from either English, Spanish, or French.
Chevrolet joins a host of other brands offering remote capability from a smartwatch. Hyundai, Genesis, Volkswagen, Volvo, and Porsche are among the many other automakers providing this type of connectivity.
