hello - wondering what peoples actual opinions of hypercars are? i much prefer LMP1s, i just find them cooler, to look at and to drive (in games at least). hypercars seem like the sport’s answer to ‘new-age racing’, and tbh im not a fan. call me old-fashioned but i dont like the idea of everything going electric, and people trying to take the fun out of racing (although im not trying to say the hypercars do this). i think Formula 1 is in a good state, and i will never get bored of watching GT racing, such as the current Fanatec GT World Callenge series, but i feel like WEC, which i have loved dearly for a few years now, is trying too hard to change the future of racing. some of these hypercar concepts (although they are just concepts) look overly futuristic, like some sort of ‘near-future’ supercars, and less like endurance racing cars. not sure, maybe im just a sour LMP1 fan who cant let go, but i just prefer them over the hypercars. that, and the fact that the toyota and glickenhaus hypercars are somehow uglier than any of the LMP1s ever were. i just hope there will be some sort of racing series where they race the (by now) old LMP1s, such as the R18’s and the TS040/TS050’s, and the 919’s, and if anything like this does exist make sure to let me know :)
