lamboblogging

I'd quite like to play GT PSP (on my Vita), however for the first minutes the view in the game feels like I'm looking through a telephoto camera—pretty much touching the car with my nose (if looking from behind)—and generally the experience of speed is like that of a commuter bicycle. Supercars here feel like trailer trucks in other games.

Afaik the consensus usually is that the ‘feeling of speed’ in games is largely the function of the field of view. Hence the question: has anyone made a patch for the game that would adjust the camera FOV angle to something more decent? Hard to imagine that I'm the only one irked by this phenomenon.

As I understand the workings of 3D, the camera FOV should be just a number somewhere in the code, so presumably can be changed easily if actually found. Though I don't know if glitchy side effects could follow from such a change.

Since I'm using Vita, I'd prefer to create a modified ROM for it, instead of using in-memory patches at runtime, as is sometimes done with emulators. I know there are mods changing the cars' looks, so I'm hoping that in all this time someone poked in the code parts too.
