I got sent a post in discord about a Tenerife local claiming there is pretty much zero car culture here, that there is barely any exotic or tuner car here and that there is only ''ricers''. I hate seeing our local culture undermined, and as a response, i am making this post (WARNING: It will be long, so hang on tight because we're going on a trip to Tenerife)

First of all, those comments are incredibly wrong. The canary islands have always been a hotspot in spain for car culture, japanese imports and rallying. Even when we go back to the golden age of rallying, we were a part of it

Rally cars in Parque Garcia Sanabria, Santa Cruz de Tenerife.

Every year we are a part of the ''Islas Canarias'' rally, an event that is part of the European Rally Championship and that turn the islands into a road rally paradise for the days the races take place.

So, rally culture out of the way, we have a very prominent tuner scene too, having several cars unique to spain as a whole, from the common Honda Civics and CRXs

To some of the very few imported Skylines and Chasers that Spain has ever seen

And also going through our very particular love for Evos and WRXs

The import scene here is serious about their stuff, and while mid 2000s tuning has remained popular, we also get our seriously tricked out cars

That being said, we move on to the supercar scene, and there is no need to talk much about it here, i'll let the pictures talk for themselves

Couldn't forget about some spicy classics

If you guys wish to keep up with the local supercar scene, with new arrivals almost everyday, please go check out the Avistamientos en Canarias facebook page, and see the new arrivals for yourself.

CONCLUSION:

Even if some locals are disconnected from it, we have a very strong scene going on here, with tuner car clubs (Japan Racing Club, check out their FB page for pics), american car clubs, supercar clubs, and a very strong love for all things retro and rallying. This is definitely not just ''6 supercars and a bunch of ricers''. As a small community we have to support each other, and i think our islands' car scene needs more visibility than what some locals credit it for. Variety is the best we have. From the common but all around loved M2

Nice.

To some extremely rare machines that you've had a hard time believing they were here.

ULTRA NICE.

If you want to support the Canary Islands car scene and give us visibility. don't doubt on following the next pages:
Japan Racing Club on FB for all you japanese car lovers
Avistamientos en Canarias and Dream Cars Club Canarias for anyone wanting to follow the exotic scene closely.
And last but not least, you can search info about rally events held in Tenerife to see how our rallying scene moves and sounds!

If you have any questions, please feel free to ask and i will share all the details i can give!
