Just how much faster can supercars get? We are already in the 2-3 second 0-60 times. I mean there is a certain point that you can't launch a 2000lb vehicle any quicker.

Seems like the standard for lots of performance cars is 700-1000 hp and natural aspirated engines can't possibly get any stronger. It will be interesting to see if 1 second 0-60 becomes standard, I remember when 3-4 seconds was quick, now 2-3 is fast, so does that mean that the next generation of supercars will be doing 1-2 seconds?

Lamborghini is going naturally aspirated v12 with hybrid assistance for the aventador successor and I assume Ferrari will be doing something similar for their next v12. The corvette is going tt v8 with hybrid and mclaren has their new hybrid v6 car, which I would guess is a peak at what's to come. Seems like we will get 1 more generation (hopefully) of naturally aspirated engines, but with hybrid technology, before things go full electric.
