2021 Dodge Charger Pricing: Hellcat Redeye Costs Just Over $100 Per HP

Dodge continues to inject some life into its aging Charger sedan by doing the only thing it seems to know how: adding horsepower. Notably, the 2021 Charger welcomes the addition of the 797-hp SRT Hellcat Redeye to the mix. Taking after the two-door Challenger SRT Hellcat Redeye, the Charger SRT Hellcat Redeye adds 80 horses to its stable relative to that of its dead-eyed Hellcat stablemate. Yes, 80 horses—not 90. That’s because the run-of-the-mill 2021 Charger SRT Hellcat’s supercharged 6.2-liter V-8 now makes 717 hp, or 10 more than its 2020 counterpart.

2021 Dodge Charger SRT Hellcat Price

Despite its extra grunt, the Hellcat’s price holds steady for 2021 at $71,490 (that’s before accounting for an all-but-assured gas-guzzler tax). Opt for the Redeye kit, and the sum swells to $80,090 (once again ignoring the cost of the car’s likely gas-guzzler tax). That’s a smidge over $100 per horsepower for Dodge’s most powerful Charger model. Nevertheless, the run-of-the-mill Hellcat represents a slightly better value in the price-per-pony equation, as each of its horses costs a little less than $100.

Still, the higher price of the Redeye results in more than just bragging rights when it comes to the size of your Charger’s stable. It also blesses the wide-bodied sedan with a top speed of 203 mph and manufacturer-estimated quarter-mile time of 10.6 seconds. The 707-hp 2020 Charger SRT Hellcat, meanwhile, tops out at 196 mph and covers the quarter-mile in 11.0 seconds, per Dodge.

What About the Regular 2021 Charger?

Fans of the six-cylinder Charger will be pleased to learn the model holds its pricing line for 2021, with the base SXT once again starting at $31,490 ($33,490 for the GT). All-wheel-drive remains available, too. It’s a $3,600 option on the SXT and a $3,000 addition to the GT, the latter of which sports newly standard 20-inch wheels (the dubs are an option on the all-wheel-drive SXT).

Opt for a 2021 Charger with a naturally aspirated V-8, though, and you’ll see a small price increase. The 370-hp R/T now starts at $38,490 ($500 more than the 2020 Charger R/T), while the 485-hp Scat Pack and Scat Pack Widebody come in at $42,590 and $48,090, or $600 and $100 more than before.
