Saw a post on /r/Cricket and decided to see where AFL fits.

Figures are per game/race in US dollars.

Formula 1 | $33 million (this one is very vague)

NFL | $30.3 million

Premier League | $11.8 million

IPL | $8.47 million

NBA | $2.96 million

V8 Supercars | $2.2 million

MLB | $1.41 million

AFL | $1.37 million

NRL | $1.21 million

A League | $1 million

Can't find figures for the NBL but also interesting would be Melbourne Cup which is $13.6 million / year but includes 3 other race days. Just think it gives a bit of perspective, particularly when people start discussing how much an Amazon or Disney would pay for the rights.

For reference, Amazon pays $3.6 million per game to simulcast Thursday Night NFL, so an equivalent deal would be paying ~$160k per game for AFL. Coincidentally (or not) this is almost exactly proportionate to what Telstra pays to stream AFL matches.
