If Memorial Day marks the beginning of summer, the Fourth of July celebrates the sunny season just as it’s hitting its stride. Plus, June gloom is finally gone in Southern California, so we folks at the office are enjoying a much needed flood of Vitamin D. But before you preload on Pepto for a three-day weekend of backyard grilling, recall that this can be a very wise time to buy a car.

Fat cash incentives are on offer this weekend to help dealers clear their inventory before 2020 models hit their lots later this year, and car shoppers can reap the benefits. If you’re looking for a car this summer, now could be the best time to make your move. To aid your search, MotorTrend affiliate IntelliChoice has listed the best incentives available, broken down by largest cash amount and by largest percentage discount.

A couple caveats: We’ve limited our incentives data to 2019 and 2020 models, and we’re only including unrestricted, nationwide deals. There are plenty of regional incentives and special discounts for students and graduates and military members, plus loyalty incentives and offers only available to those coming from a competing automaker. The best current offer leaves $10,000 on the hood of the BMW i3 as part of BMW’s Military Sales program. As tempting as it is to include those deals here, we’re limiting this list to unrestricted nationwide incentives that will be available to most buyers.
