I have asked the mods and they are ok with me posting this (Thanks again mods!)

If you want to know the details check out www.holditflat.com

Our production company Hold It Flat Productions has a script for a Feature Film we are keen on getting made and we are looking to put the word out about it, generate some interest and also collect ideas to improve it along the way.

The film is to have a heavy focus on realism, pure engine sounds and to create a car enthusiast film for the late 90’s and early 2000’s “Turbo and early EFI V8 Generation” the same way American Graffiti and Two Lane Blacktop is for the Hot Rodding and Muscle Car Generations.

Set at a time before the common accessibility of the LS1 and (in Australia) Ford Barra Turbo (for US it would be the 5.0 L Coyote and the HEMI) which are notorious today for making power way too easily and cheaply than we could do back in the early 2000’s.

Another main focus is that I want a film that pays particular attention to car sounds, practical effects and realism. Too much is handed over to sound production and visual effects companies who don’t understand how a powerful modified car should to act or sound when driven. We want the film to be more like what you see at your local race meets or on your favourite YouTube channels. Showing the cars perform the way they are supposed to, not 2-minute long drag races with millisecond jump cuts, 15 speed gearboxes, hyperspace animations out the window, drivers making sex faces etc etc, you know the deal.

A film that won’t insult a car enthusiast’s intelligence or experience.

Also, a film that won’t make women an accessory to the hobby, or a prize, or insult the fact that there are so many women out there that enjoy spannering on, driving, racing and skidding cars as much as anyone else.

And finally, a film that helps address common mental health issues faced by teenagers and young adults just as much back then as it does today.

So Get Ready For:

HOLD IT FLAT… A young suburban man who lives for building and illegally street racing his car, meets a woman who helps him face something more terrifying than speed and pursuing police combined. For this illegal street racer, the police are the last of his troubles.

We don’t need your money we just need your vote! Check out the details at www.holditflat.com and if it’s a film you’d be keen on seeing then please sign the petition and then share the information to any and every; car club/forum/meet/event/FB page/Insta page that you are a part of. The more tangible target market data we can get (petition signatures) the better our chances of getting funding.

Some more info:

We are not willing to reveal any hero cars as yet but just know that we love a whole range of cars and we HATE the whole “ooohh V8 guys are the good guys turbo guys are the bad guys” trope (and vice versa).

In my 20 years experience playing with cars, there was absolutely none of that when we were out there at our local industrial area at 2am watching cars line up, none of it at any of the drift, track, drag and hillclimb events I’ve entered either (well any more than a gentle ribbing for fun). EDIT: ok well there was a little bit, but it was usually some ignorant hanger on idiot who couldn’t even get permission to bring mum’s grocery getter out, let alone enter an event with their own car.

We want it to be an all Australian production and showcase our unique car culture to everyone around the world. If you are from outside of Australia just know that we have a healthy love for Big Cube Pushrod V8’s AND EFI Multivalve Turbos, Japanese, Euro, British and Korean. So we will do our best to keep it true to form and also keep the liberal use of swearing and slang in the dialogue which is a very strong part of our culture. Hope that’s something you’ll enjoy.

Only other thing to remember is that we’ll be looking to showcase more grass roots level cars and every-day people just like real life, not impossibly rich young people with unobtainable supercars/hypercars. Basically, all of the cars you loved that were part of the scene back in the early 2000’s.

Hope you check out the link and feel free to post up any ideas or concepts you’d like to see on screen here, we are car enthusiasts and we are here to support the car enthusiast community so all ideas and suggestions welcome and finally please do your part to share this with everyone you know.

Cheers,
