If you don't know, outside of initial D there's a ton of other car racing manga, and they span dozens of chapters. but the only one that gets a full translation is only initial D. what's the deal?

Wangan Midnight is the one of the most popular besides initial D with 42 volumes written, and that's not counting its sequels, C1 Runner and Ginkai no Speed Star. it's known by its widely successful arcade game, with more or less the same story, although really compacted because of the format. despite the arcade's success, only 5 volumes have been translated.

Over Rev is apparently also a big one, although barely recognized outside japan. someone translated a bunch of it recently with 120 chapters translated, scanned, and typesetted in like 60 days. it's like initial D, but more "realistic". it shows more of the local hashiriya lifestyle and culture, on how their passion for cars (and street racing) gets them going on their daily lives. it has 21 out of 31 chapters translated.

Kanojo No Carrera is a story of a girl who got an old porsche 964 because of her father's death. it's less blood pumping than the other two, since it's focusing on car culture and car life, and how owning a classic sports car could change your life. it has 3 out of 24 volumes translated.

Countach, A story of a salary man who got a chance to own a museum-spec Lamborghini countach LP500 for 2.5 million yen. and what he do to it afterwards? he raced it. immediately. everywhere. The hero car on every kid's wall, The manga is more of an ad to this now ~45 years old supercar. it describes the car pretty thoroughly, and shows the Quirks and features of the already crazy car. 4 out of 28 volumes translated.

Of course there's more, but these are the ones i read and in my opinion, the best of the genre has to offer. there's a ton of its genre made in the late 90s-early 2000s for some reason, maybe the reason why there's so much racing games from japan made for the PS1 and PS2? it's still a mystery.
