2021 Chevrolet Trailblazer Small SUV Confirmed for the U.S.

Earlier this year, MotorTrend broke the news that Chevrolet planned to bring back the Trailblazer name. Then, in April, Chevrolet officially revealed the new Trailblazer at the Shanghai auto show. At the time, though, Chevrolet chose to focus on the Chinese market and wouldn’t comment on whether or not the Trailblazer would come to the U.S., too. But now it’s official. The Trailblazer will return to the U.S. for the 2021 model year.

Sadly, Chevrolet didn’t include specs or pricing in today’s announcement, so it’s hard to tell how the Trailblazer matches up to the competition. Chevrolet did confirm that the Trailblazer will slot between the Trax and the Equinox, as well as the fact that automatic emergency braking with pedestrian detection and lane keep assist will come standard.

Oh, and there will be an RS trim that comes with a “standard two-tone roof that allows drivers to purchase a vehicle that reflects their lifestyle.” So that’s pretty exciting.

“The Trailblazer’s great design enables more personalization,” said Steve Majoros, Chevrolet’s head of passenger car and crossover marketing. “Trailblazer is a continuation of the design language for Chevy’s crossover family and extends our momentum into one of the industry’s fastest-growing segments.”

As for an on-sale date, Chevrolet says to expect the Trailblazer to hit dealer lots in early 2020. Maybe that means we’ll hear more at the Los Angeles auto show in November.
