Every one has almost taken for granted the fact that Hartley will be fired, come Abu Dhabi.
If he does get fired, he will be pretty screwed.
- No LMP1, Porsche GTE Pro pack is stable, very little place for him there, although Porsche might take him 'cause he's raced for them
- Pretty much all top IndyCar teams have confirmed their drivers.
- Formula E drivers getting confirmed fast, seems unlikely for him.
- SuperGT, SuperFormula is a possibility, but lot of competition for a seat.
- DTM very unlikely.
- IMSA is a possibility, but chances are very slim. ESM (the team he drove for last year) has lost some serious sponsorship, and Hartley isn't a pay driver.
The only possibility is (by a long shot), probably, a drive in V8 Supercars.
I respect Hartley. He's fast (but not in F1), conducts himself properly, never throws anyone under the bus and accepts his shortcomings and mistakes.
I hoped he'd do well, 'cause a lot of people on the internet call sportscar drivers 'slow drivers and F1 rejects' condescendingly, and I hoped that he'd prove that sportcar racers are no slouches, but I guess that was not be.
