Every one has almost taken for granted the fact that Hartley will be fired, come Abu Dhabi.

If he does get fired, he will be pretty screwed.

  1. No LMP1, Porsche GTE Pro pack is stable, very little place for him there, although Porsche might take him 'cause he's raced for them
  2. Pretty much all top IndyCar teams have confirmed their drivers.
  3. Formula E drivers getting confirmed fast, seems unlikely for him.
  4. SuperGT, SuperFormula is a possibility, but lot of competition for a seat.
  5. DTM very unlikely.
  6. IMSA is a possibility, but chances are very slim. ESM (the team he drove for last year) has lost some serious sponsorship, and Hartley isn't a pay driver.

The only possibility is (by a long shot), probably, a drive in V8 Supercars.

I respect Hartley. He's fast (but not in F1), conducts himself properly, never throws anyone under the bus and accepts his shortcomings and mistakes.

I hoped he'd do well, 'cause a lot of people on the internet call sportscar drivers 'slow drivers and F1 rejects' condescendingly, and I hoped that he'd prove that sportcar racers are no slouches, but I guess that was not be.
