I was recently laid off from my dream job (team folded). I was being paid a good wage to race cars and manage the three other drivers when we weren't racing.
Now I have two options. Work for a racing school or work for a Supercar experience company that I instruct with already.
Option 1: The racing school would require me to relocate from Chicago to Florida. I've wanted to leave Chicago for a while now but I dont know anything about Florida and am a bit nervous. I dont want to end up living somewhere where there arent anybody in my age group (late 20s). They also want to pay me $42,500 a year for the job. The job itself sounds really appealing and would be a great way to learn more about the industry.
Option 2: The Supercar experience company is based out of Chicago so I would stay in Illinois. I would end up moving down to the city from the suburbs so maybe that would be better than my current situation. The job itself would be an event management position. I think it would be a good environment but its not in a racing position but more of an entertainment position. The pay would be better. About $50,000.
Looking for advice as to which one I should pick. I really would like to start my own team some day (Not like a big team like Penske more like an amateur prep shop like Advanced Autosport) but I also dont want to be scraping by all the time.
