Hello all,

I've recently had a renewed interest in V8 supercars, having dipped back in following the Bathurst 12 hour. I live in the UK, and we use to get coverage via MotorsTV - however, I'm not sure that channel is even running any more, let alone if it still shows V8 supercars.

Looking on the official website, I'm able to take great advantage of SuperView - the exchange rate between $AU and GBP means I pay around £35 for a full seasons pass - that's the cost of a single ticket for a race day at British Superbikes!

All this being said, I've been out of the loop for a number of years. I missed the introduction of the Volvos and Nissans, but I understand that Volvo at least had some success. What have been the main big points of the last 4-5 seasons? I see some familiar names are still in the cars, but also some new (to me) names. Who is showing promise as they develop?

I hope to get well involved in this community. Back in the 1990's, the UK had an incredible touring car scene, but as the sport became very expensive the rules were changed, and the factory teams left leaving it a shadow of its former self in the early 2000's. When I found the V8 supercars, I was instantly captivated - big V8's, little intrusive technology (e.g. no ABS, traction control; drivers required to heel-toe, manage brake bias, roll bar stiffness etc) and incredible drivers with big personalities on some incredible race tracks - plus, the Bathurst 1000.

Here's to a great 2018.
