The Chevrolet Bolt launched late last year in California and Oregon before slowly making its way to other select markets across the U.S. Now the EV is available nationwide, Chevrolet announced today.
Customers can pick up a Bolt or order one at certified dealerships across the country. Through August, Chevrolet has sold 11,670 copies of the Bolt, putting it ahead of Nissan which sold 9,685 copies of the Leaf.
Chevrolet’s announcement comes sneakily on the heels of the next-generation Leaf reveal. Nissan’s new EV, which features improved range from the previous version, will launch in all 50 states starting in early 2018.
Priced at $37,495 before tax credits, the Bolt comes standard with a 10.2-inch touchscreen, SiriusXM satellite radio, push-button start, six-way manual adjusting front seats, OnStar with 4G LTE Wi-Fi, and an electronic transmission selector with Low mode for regenerative braking. Premier models come with front and rear heated seats, a heated steering wheel, surround camera system, and other features. Range is EPA-estimated at 238 miles on a single charge.
The Bolt won Motor Trend’s 2017 Car of the Year award. Not only does it ride and handle well, but, as we noted at the time, it makes affordable long-range electric transportation available to the masses. Now that the small car has rolled out nationwide, this is truer than ever before.
