If you’ve ever found yourself behind the wheel of a Ford F-350, unable to do your job because your truck’s 925 lb-ft of torque is somehow insufficient, we have great news. Ram has heard you and wants to help. It will now sell you a Ram 3500 with 930 lb-ft. Just think of all the things you can pull now thanks to that extra 5 lb-ft of torque. The opportunities are endless.
The Ram 3500 still uses a 6.7-liter Cummins I-6, but a variable geometry turbocharger and improved fuel flow now allow it to run higher boost. As a result, the engine now makes 30 lb-ft more torque than it did before. Despite the higher boost, Ram promises that durability hasn’t been compromised.
You can also add a fifth-wheel hitch, which will allow you to tow up to 30,000 pounds. Ram says it designed the new hitch to allow owners to haul trailers that previously would have required a Class 4 or Class 5 truck. You’ll be able to add the new hitch for $1,395 or order it as part of a package. If that’s not enough towing capacity for you, the 3500 is also rated to haul 31,210 pounds with a gooseneck hitch.
Look for the 2018 Ram 3500 Heavy Duty to hit dealerships this month.
